Hyperdocs marks the connection as Connected after the first client request.

  1. Connect MCP in Hyperdocs.

As the workspace owner, open MCP and select Connect. Hyperdocs creates a unique Server URL for that workspace.

  2. Add the URL to your AI client.

Copy the Server URL and follow the setup instructions for your client. The URL includes your access token; keep it private.

  3. Start with your existing docs.

Ask your AI client to list your Hyperdocs documents. Once connected, use it to read and edit workspace documentation.

Clear access. Clear control.

Your workspace.
Your connection.

MCP gives a connected client read and write access to the entire workspace. The owner controls that connection and can revoke it at any time.

Treat the Server URL like a password.

It contains the token that grants access. Add it only to AI tools you trust, and keep it out of public docs and shared examples.

  • Created by the workspace owner

Only the owner can create or revoke MCP access. Invited admins, editors, and viewers cannot manage the connection.

  • One active connection per workspace

Use the same Server URL across multiple compatible clients. Hyperdocs shows connection status and the last client identifier.

  • Revoke access immediately

Disconnect MCP to stop the old URL from working. Reconnecting creates a new URL to add to your AI clients.

Read the documentation
What is an MCP server for documentation?

A Model Context Protocol (MCP) server connects compatible AI tools to documentation. Hyperdocs MCP gives a connected AI client read and write access to your workspace docs, so you can work with that content from the client.

Which AI tools can I connect?

The Hyperdocs setup guide covers ChatGPT, Claude, Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code, and Codex. Use a client that supports the required remote MCP connection. Client settings and availability can vary; follow the current connection guide.

Who can create or revoke the connection?

Only the workspace owner can connect or disconnect MCP. Invited admins, editors, and viewers cannot manage the connection.

What can a connected AI client access?

The connection grants read and write access to the entire workspace. Its unique Server URL contains the access token, so treat that URL as a credential and share it only with AI tools you trust.

Can I use more than one AI client?

Yes. Each workspace has one active MCP connection, and you can use that same Server URL in multiple compatible AI clients.

What happens when I disconnect MCP?

Hyperdocs revokes the connection immediately. The old Server URL stops working and cannot be restored. Connecting again creates a new URL, which you must update in your AI clients.

Is this the same as Answer Agent or Docs Agent?

They serve different workflows. MCP connects external AI tools to your workspace docs. Docs Agent is the assistant you use inside Hyperdocs to work on documentation. Answer Agent helps readers find answers on your published docs site.
